C. Capitoline Museum: This museum is acknowledged as one of the oldest museums in the world. The Sittingbourne parish of St. Michael dates back to the 13th century when pilgrims visiting the tomb of Thomas a’Becket, stopped their on their way to Canterbury. Today this town is still a town of inns. The most famous being the “Red Lion” which was called “the Lyon”. This inn was where Henry V stayed in Sittingbourne on his return from Agincourt in 1415. It was also popular with Henry VIII and he visited in 1522, and then again in 1532. Certain parts of The Lyon banqueting hall have survived till today.
