The Second World War lasted for six years and ended in the defeat of Germany by the Allies. During this war there were many important battles that had a great effect on the war and perhaps sometimes to shortlist five critical battles can be a hard task. But the battles listed below had a profound effect on the conduct of the war and deserve mention.
Don’t get fooled by roadside stalls selling cheap imitations of Indian handicrafts and hand looms. Buy from govt. and state emporiums to get genuine quality souvenirs. If your base is Delhi, visit Delhi Haat or Janpath for authentic products. Never fall prey to cheap street shops claiming to sell original Pashmina. Take our word; if the guy has a stall next to a lemonade cart, you aren’t getting an inch of Pashmina!!!
After independence the Sikhs retained their dominant position in the www.joinindianarmy.nic.in. But a subtle discrimination started which is hard to explain. Thus despite the officer corps being one third Sikh hardly any Sikh was promoted as Army Chief. My passport had been taken away by the government and I was told that I was under investigation because of the jail sentence. The passport could only be returned after I was cleared.
When I landed on the atheist networking, I was on Google, and it recorded “647,000 for atheist social network.” The majority of these sites at the top of Google’s search were nothing more than some Christians arguing with a bunch of Atheist. I couldn’t help but wonder why a Christian would do that. If your God is too weak to defend Himself, He has a problem. I do not have to defend God – nor can I possibly protect Him. My God is too big for a mere human to shield.
The Japanese were pushed back through Burma. It was bitter fighting but the ‘Forgotten army’ carried the day. Now when more that 60 years have elapsed it is incumbent on historians to give credit to Field Marshal Slim’s forgotten army. The soldiers who fought along with this army certainly deserve it.
